Position: Entry Level Engineer – Leadership Technical Orientation Program (LTOP)

Entry Level Engineer – Leadership Technical Orientation Program (LTOP)

The Linde Leadership and Technical Orientation Program (LTOP) is a program sponsored by Linde’s United States Bulk and On‑Site unit. Participants undergo a 52‑week structured curriculum designed to provide broad exposure to all aspects of plant operations and limited exposure to the broader Linde organization. The curriculum includes training common to operations and opportunities for technical cross‑training. LTOP is a mentored program with a sponsor assigned to each participant, and is specifically designed for those who want to leverage an engineering/technical degree toward a management career and grow within the organization.

Specific areas of operations covered include product line processes (air separation, hydrogen, hydrogen‑carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, helium, rare gases, and standard plants); safety, health and environmental; distribution, logistics and customer service; and operational support functions.

LTOP engineers are expected to be actively involved in many aspects of their assigned training site’s activities and support daily operations. Activities may include plant startups and shutdowns, maintenance, project planning and execution, training, problem solving, safety program execution, customer interface, personnel management, efficiency monitoring, product shipping and scheduling/planning.

  • Operate the plant using the control system and physical equipment in the field such as motors, compressors, pumps, instrumentation, and utilities.
  • Assess the efficiency and operating capability of plant equipment, especially as it relates to energy consumption.
  • Make changes to operating modes or equipment to optimize efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot plant process and equipment problems and implement solutions.
  • Utilize control systems and advanced controls technology to optimize plant performance.
  • Train operators in safety and plant operations.
  • Provide some supervision of plant personnel or drivers as assigned by facility management.
  • Monitor compliance with internal Quality Assurance program requirements and initiate actions to correct non‑conformance.
  • Execute aspects of the Linde Safety Program including training, documentation, inspections, and corrections.
  • Monitor plant and distribution costs for alignment with budgets and improvement targets.
  • Assist plant operations and distribution personnel with day‑to‑day activities such as operating the plant, taking readings, performing inspections, starting and stopping equipment, filling product vehicles, and performing Quality Assurance tests.
  • Execute projects in the plant in accordance with budgets, standards, and facility operating schedules; participate in technical sales and business development activities.

The estimated start date for the 2026‑2027 LTOP program will be on or around July 1, 2026.

You will be assigned to a plant location that minimizes the need for relocation and must be willing to relocate for this program within the U.S. if necessary. Incumbents will be assigned to the Camden, SC location. Some travel is required to selected U.S. locations for assignments, project activities, or training.
