Overview
Medical Office Assistant (MCP) at MUSC Health works in the rural health network throughout South Carolina. The role provides administrative coverage at the front desk, including scheduling appointments, patient registration, telephone triage, billing, and collections.
Responsibilities- Provide constant efficient operations of the physician medical office.
- Schedule, patient registration, telephone triage, medical records, billing, and collections.
- Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation, patient identification, check‑in/out, charge posting, cash management, and appointment scheduling.
- Customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, and referral management.
- Answer multi‑line telephones and take payments for clinical services.
- Schedule interpreters and retrieve billing charges.
- High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility; or a Certified Nursing Assistant; or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training; or EMT or Paramedic certification; or a Bachelor’s degree.

- Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working in confined spaces, kneeling, bending and twisting at waist, squatting, using lower extremities for balance, reaching overhead, and performing repetitive hand motions.
- Lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted; lift/lower objects 50 lbs.; lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.; exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
- Maintain 20/40 vision, hearing acuity, and gross motor functions with fine motor movements.
