Responsibilities
  • Operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician by the Radiologist accepted protocol.
  • Position patients and examination tables to obtain optimum views of the specified body area.
  • Practice radiation safety techniques with the ALARA principle, using beam restrictive devices and patient shielding skills to maximize protection for patients and staff.
  • Operate CT SCAN equipment to produce CT scans of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician in accordance with Radiologist protocol.
  • Administer and obtain consent for contrast (IV and oral), and monitor for possible reactions and side effects.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork and ensure proper documentation in patients’ charts.
  • Maintain patient safety and obtain diagnostically acceptable exam quality.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology/CT procedures and equipment functioning; assist with minor repairs or troubleshooting as needed.
  • Adhere to safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Utilize appropriate body mechanics when moving or lifting patients and equipment.
  • Communicate problems or concerns to appropriate personnel and coordinate safe patient transportation as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience
Certifications
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current State licensure
  • Current BCLS Certification
