Steps $78,771.88 – $; maximum 9 steps ($97,388.02) for new faculty.
- Provide theoretical and practical instruction to Electrical Construction & Industrial Apprenticeship Blocks 2, 3, and 4.
- Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation using flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies such as LMS (e.g., Brightspace) and classroom technology.
- Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in classroom, shops, and labs.
- Maintain currency with latest industry practices relevant to program and continue to develop understanding of 21st century teaching and learning practices. Position may involve different delivery modalities (in-class, online, blended), off‑site instruction, alternate work hours including weekends and evenings.
- Related duties include, but are not limited to, academic and career advisement, committee participation, program marketing, curriculum revision/development through collaborative practice within faculty working groups, supporting and monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, representing the College as required, and upholding NSCC policies and procedures.
- Minimum educational qualification: current Inter‑provincial Journeyperson status in Construction Electrician or Industrial Electrician trade.
- Minimum of five years (full‑time equivalent) of recent and related journeyperson occupational experience in electrical construction and industrial trade. Two years of training counted towards educational requirements and not included in occupational experience.
- Familiarity with and comfort using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, E‑mail, Brightspace (D2L) considered an asset.
- Comfort working in a digital environment, responsible for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology, committed to using technology to support exceptional student experience, including multi‑media technologies and a variety of platforms engaging students in online and blended learning.
- Ideally, related experience delivering educational programs or training to adults.
- Occupational experience that includes providing performance feedback considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, and occupation‑specific safety practices.
- Comfort using multi‑media technologies and platforms to engage students in online/blended learning capacities. Ability to teach effectively in online/blended environment includes building knowledge of best practices for delivery and management of courses delivered whole or in part online, using a course management system to communicate with students and foster a collaborative online learning community. Candidates without prior online/blended teaching experience must be willing to participate in training for this model.
