Operational Support Campus Library Technician (TS8) Education Lunenburg Campus Bridgewater, Nova Scotia Department of Libraries and Learning Commons Continuing Full Time Position:
Commencing approximately September 7th, 2026 Final date to receive applications is 11:59PM, August 25th, 2026 Competition No.  Salary range: $47,711.56 to $55,553.09 annually Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational

Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a diploma in Library and Information Technology.

  • You have a minimum of one year (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a library environment. Academic library experience is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience with academic integrity, citation and referencing.

  • You possess strong demonstrated experience with library applications, including library services platforms (ideally Novanet and Alma LSP) and discovery services (ideally Primo); online databases; internet resources;
    Lib Apps (e.g., Lib Guides).

  • You have strong demonstrated computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace) and Press books is considered an asset.

  • Copyright and open educational resources (OER) experience is considered an asset.

  • Experience with assistive technology e.g., alternate format texts (AFTs), text-to-speech software, accessibility features in desktop and web applications and equipment is considered an asset.

  • You have experience supporting and providing service to students and prospective students.

Responsibilities

The Campus Library Technician reports on campus to the Manager of Student Supports and functionally to the Manager of Libraries & Learning Commons.

The Campus Library Technician supports the operation and success of the Library and Learning Commons by:

  • Actively promoting and supporting the delivery of all Libraries and Learning Commons services, programs, initiatives and activities.
  • Providing on-site and online library support to students, faculty, staff and community members by responding to various levels of research/reference questions. This includes helping users access and use library resources and making referrals to other relevant College supports.
  • Using shared Novanet systems (e.g. Alma) to complete fulfilment activities such as processing library materials and equipment for loan and providing interlibrary loan, document delivery and reserve services.
  • Supporting Accessible Format Texts (AFTs) by processing approved requests and supplying students with required materials.
  • Providing technology support for equipment and software such as Brightspace, Office 365, Press books, and library printers/scanners.
  • Supporting collection maintenance by maintaining accurate circulation data, receiving and processing new materials, and assisting with deselection projects.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the Libraries and Learning Commons on college-wide and consortia initiatives. This includes participating in working groups, committees, and projects to advance library and learning commons services.
  • Supporting the success of campus events, activities and initiatives, such as orientations and convocation.
