Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

Canada Post is recruiting dependable, organized individuals to deliver mail on an on-call basis to rural and suburban communities in the Lunenburg, NS area.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner
• Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Ensure mail is safely secured in possession at all times
• Process various Canada Post products and services (Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill, and others)
• Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
• Operate a motor vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions

• Valid permanent provincial driver's licence — Class 5 or G
• Satisfactory safe driving record; driver's abstract dated within the last 30 days required upon selection
• Vehicle meeting mandatory requirements: minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 L), automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof‑top with accessory power outlet, passenger window sill height 38"–45" from ground, maximum interior width 56"
• Automobile liability insurance for vehicle use at Canada Post
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions
• Applicants residing within 75 km from the Lunenburg Post Office are preferred

Valid permanent provincial driver's licence (Class 5 or G), satisfactory safe driving record, vehicle meeting Canada Post cargo and equipment specifications, automobile liability insurance for employment use, experience with delivery driving in all weather conditions.
