Working Pattern: Office-Based (5 Days per Week)
About the Role
An ambitious and growing accountancy practice is looking to appoint a Semi Senior / Senior Accountant to join its close-knit team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who is looking for greater responsibility, broader client exposure, and genuine long-term progression. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the firm's client portfolio, working closely with senior management across both accounts and tax assignments.
The position offers a balanced mix of accounts and tax work, with the opportunity to take ownership of a significant client portfolio over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
- Preparation and submission of personal tax returns.
- Managing a portfolio of approximately 50-100 tax returns.
- Working with clients who have:
- Rental property portfolios
- Investment income
- Sole trader businesses
- Exposure to Capital Gains Tax matters.
- Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT work completed by junior team members.
- Supporting Client Managers with portfolio management and client queries.
- Assisting with CIS-related work where required.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Working independently and managing client deadlines with minimal supervision.

- High-net-worth individuals
- Sole traders
Businesses
- Owner-managed businesses
- SMEs across a variety of sectors
- Companies preparing accounts under FRS 102 and FRS 105

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- 4-6 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.
- Strong personal tax and income tax experience.
- Experience preparing company accounts.
- Confident managing client work independently.
- Good understanding of bookkeeping and VAT processes.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Desirable
- Capital Gains Tax exposure.
- CIS experience.
- Experience reviewing bookkeeping and VAT work.
- Knowledge of Maple Tax Digital software.
- ACCA/ACA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
