Location: Luton Magistrates' Court
Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9‑5 37 hours per week- 5 days On‑site
Contract: Temporary assignment until 30/09/2026

About the RoleBrook Street are currently recruiting for an Operational Support Officer to join HMCTS at Luton Magistrates' Court.
This is a varied role combining administration, customer service, and courtroom support duties within a busy court environment. Successful candidates will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the court, supporting judiciary members, legal professionals, court users, and internal teams.
This position is fully office‑based and offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within the justice system.
Key Responsibilities- Processing court documentation and correspondence
- Updating and maintaining accurate records on internal systems
- Managing and preparing case files in line with court procedures
- Handling telephone, email, and face‑to‑face enquiries professionally
- Scanning, uploading, filing, and securely managing sensitive documents
- Supporting court hearings and carrying out courtroom duties when required
- Assisting court users, legal professionals, and members of the public
- Liaising with judiciary members and internal court teams
- Providing general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of court operations
- Previous administration and/or customer service experience
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
- Professional and confident approach when dealing with the public
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full training will be provided
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo DBS and pre‑employment checks
- Applicants must be able to provide right‑to‑work documentation and satisfactory references
