Are you an organised, professional and customer‑focused individual looking to make a meaningful difference in your community? Luton Council is seeking a Receptionist/Administrator and Deputy Registrar to join the Register Office team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast‑paced and rewarding environment, providing essential administration and reception support while assisting with statutory registration services across the borough.
You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of customer care to members of the public visiting the Register Office, ensuring all enquiries are handled politely, professionally and sympathetically. The role also includes providing Deputy Registrar cover and supporting the accurate administration of statutory registration duties.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide reception and administrative support within the Register Office
- Assist customers with professionalism, sensitivity and discretion
- Carry out financial calculations and reconciliations accurately
- Maintain detailed and accurate records in line with statutory regulations
- Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
- Support registration services in accordance with legal procedures and standards
- Be available to work weekends and occasional Bank Holidays on a rota basis
- Travel to sites across the Borough as required

About youWe are looking for someone who has:
- Experience working in an office and reception environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Competence using Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
- Good numeracy skills
- The ability to interpret and follow statutory regulations and procedures
- Neat and legible handwriting
- An understanding of equality, diversity and the impact discrimination can have on service delivery
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment
- GCSE qualifications or equivalent experience
