We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong subcontractor background in groundworks, basements, RC frames, demolition, cut and carve, temporary works, and steel frames. This is a commercially focused role operating exclusively within the subcontractor sector—candidates from a main contractor background will not be considered. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring profitability, cost control, and contractual compliance across complex civil and structural packages.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial management of subcontractor packages from tender stage through to final account.
- Preparation and submission of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Measurement and valuation of works including groundworks, basements, RC frames, demolition, cut and carve, temporary works, and steel frames.
- Cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure projects remain commercially viable.
- Procurement and management of suppliers and subcontractors, including negotiation of terms and variations.
- Assessment, agreement, and submission of variations and change control.
- Monitoring project costs against budgets and reporting on commercial performance.
- Identification and management of commercial risk and value engineering opportunities.
- Attendance at commercial and site meetings, supporting project and construction teams.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and cost reporting systems.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the subcontractor sector, specifically groundworks, demolition, or structural packages.
- Strong technical knowledge of basements, RC frames, cut and carve, steel frames, and temporary works.
- Solid understanding of subcontractor contracts, procurement, and commercial risk.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Competitive salary: £70,000 - £100,000 (CIS or PAYE).
- Long-term career progression within a specialist subcontractor business.
- Exposure to high-value, technically complex projects across the region.
