Luton | £70,000-£80,000 | Hybrid Working | Permanent

Experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for your next move? Earn up to £80k while taking commercial ownership of projects worth up to £15m.

I'm recruiting for an established regional main contractor looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established regional general building contractor, that is growing rapidly where you'll have real responsibility for project profitability, subcontract procurement, cost control and commercial delivery from start to finish.

With a salary of £70,000-£80,000 and hybrid working (2-3 days in the office), this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of significant projects and make a tangible impact on the business.

The Role

You'll work closely with the project management team, taking the commercial lead on projects valued up to £15m.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the commercial lifecycle of projects from procurement through to final accounts.
  • Leading subcontract procurement, tendering, package negotiations and subcontract accounts.
  • Producing monthly CVRs, cost reports, forecasts and financial updates.
  • Managing variations, change control, commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Preparing client applications for payment and monitoring cash flow.
  • Administering JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Negotiating with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Maintaining commercial control and protecting project margins.
About You

We are looking for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with proven main contractor experience and the confidence to run projects independently.

You'll ideally have:
  • Main contractor-side Quantity Surveying experience.
  • Proven experience taking commercial ownership of construction projects.
  • Strong subcontract procurement, CVR and cost-control skills.
  • Good working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  • Experience managing variations, valuations and final accounts.
  • A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
What's on Offer?
  • Salary of £70,000-£80,000, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working, with 2-3 days per week in the office.
  • Permanent position with an established regional contractor.
  • Commercial responsibility for projects valued up to £15m.
  • The opportunity to contribute directly to project profitability and business growth.
