Salary: £36,672-£39,462 per annum (dependent on experience)
Actual Pro Rata Salary: £33,455-£36,001 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated and compassionate Head of Year to join our dedicated Pastoral Team from September 2026.
We are seeking a positive, proactive and passionate individual who is committed to ensuring every student meets and exceeds their potential. You will play a vital role in removing barriers to learning, promoting excellent attendance and behaviour, and supporting students to achieve outstanding academic and personal outcomes.
This is a non-teaching leadership role
, ideally suited to a dynamic individual with strong organisational and interpersonal skills who is passionate about pastoral care and student wellbeing.
Working closely with a team of Form Tutors, you will lead the pastoral provision for your allocated year group, fostering a culture of high expectations, inclusion and achievement. You will also work collaboratively with senior leaders, teaching staff, parents and external agencies to ensure every student receives the support they need to flourish.

Responsibilities- Lead the pastoral care, welfare and personal development of an allocated year group.
- Manage and support a team of Form Tutors, ensuring consistently high standards of pastoral care and behaviour.
- Monitor, analyse and act upon student data including attendance, punctuality, behaviour and academic progress.
- Identify students requiring intervention and coordinate appropriate support to remove barriers to learning.
- Implement strategies to promote excellent attendance, with the aim of achieving the highest possible levels of student attendance.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum leaders to monitor student progress and support improved outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies to support student success.
- Contribute to maintaining a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment through daily duties, learning walks and visible leadership around the school.
- Support the school's safeguarding and behaviour systems, ensuring students are safe, supported and ready to learn.
- A positive, resilient and flexible approach with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- A proactive 'can-do' attitude and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Experience of successfully planning, implementing and evaluating strategies that improve student outcomes.
- Experience of raising standards in attendance, behaviour, wellbeing or pastoral support.
- An understanding of transition between key stages and how to support students through these important stages of education.
- The ability to analyse data effectively and use it to inform interventions and measure impact.
