Teaching Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Claystone School, Luton, LU1 4LL

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:15am – 4:15pm

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Fixed Term, Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

End: July 2027

About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and caring Teaching Assistant to join our team and help pupils with Autism and additional needs build confidence, independence and a love for learning.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs in their learning and development
  • Assisting with engaging classroom activities and personalised learning experiences
  • Providing emotional and practical support tailored to individual pupils
  • Helping pupils build confidence, independence and social skills
  • Supporting both indoor and outdoor learning activities
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
  • Working collaboratively as part of a supportive and passionate team
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

About Us

Claystone School – a brand‑new specialist school in Luton for autistic children aged 4–11, recently opened in January 2025. Situated in Pepperstock, Claystone School is an independent setting supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition and a range of additional learning difficulties.

For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.
