Job Description & How to Apply Below
We're working on behalf of a well-established civil engineering contractor operating within the highways and infrastructure sector. Due to continued growth and secured long-term frameworks, they're looking to appoint a commercially strong Quantity Surveyor to support live projects and act as the key commercial point of contact on site.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being close to delivery, understands NEC contracts, and is confident managing subcontractors and commercial reporting in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

You'll take day-to-day commercial responsibility for assigned schemes, working closely with operational teams to ensure strong financial control and contractual compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

Acting as the primary commercial contact on site, advising project teams on contractual and financial matters

Managing cost and value reporting, WIP, forecasting, and identifying commercial risks with mitigation strategies

Procuring and managing subcontractors, including tender analysis, rate negotiations, instructions, and dispute resolution

Processing subcontractor applications and payments with full supporting documentation

Measuring works on site, maintaining records, and managing variations, quotations, and income agreements

Preparing monthly CVRs, accruals, forecasts, liability, and recovery reports

Reconciling receipts, managing aged debt, and supporting contract controls

Authorising invoices, managing contra charges, and maintaining commercial systems

Preparing client KPIs and financial reports, ensuring logs and trackers are kept up to date

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll likely have:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within highways is ideal but not essential

Strong experience operating under NEC3 forms of contract

Solid understanding of subcontract and main contract management

Confident negotiation and communication skills, including client-facing interaction

Strong commercial awareness with the ability to forecast, analyse costs, and manage risk

Experience using Causeway and Microsoft Office

Why Apply?

This opportunity offers long-term stability, exposure to major infrastructure frameworks, and the chance to work within a commercially mature business delivering complex civil engineering projects across the UK.

If you're a Quantity Surveyor looking for a role with genuine responsibility, variety, and long-term progression potential, this is well worth a conversation.
