Field/Service Technician, Electrical Engineering
A well-established and growing power solutions business is seeking a CHP Engineer to join its expanding service team, supporting CHP and engine-driven power systems across Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Luton, and Buckinghamshire
.
This role would suit an engineer from a CHP, engine, generator, diesel engine, plant, agricultural, HGV, or similar power generation background
, including those looking to transition into the CHP sector.
This is a field-based position offering a mix of planned maintenance, reactive fault finding, and technical support, backed by a knowledgeable and supportive engineering team.
Responsibilities- Travel to customer sites across Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Luton, and Buckinghamshire to carry out routine servicing and first-response breakdowns on CHP and engine-based power systems.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, including diagnostics and fault rectification.
- Produce clear and detailed service reports, identifying faults, remedial actions, and improvement opportunities.
- Liaise with customers and internal teams to ensure efficient and professional service delivery.
- Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to the wider engineering function.
- Support internal and customer training activities where required.
- Maintain high health & safety standards, including completing risk assessments and method statements.
- Represent the business professionally while working on customer sites.
- Experience as a CHP Engineer, Engine Engineer, Generator Engineer
, or within a related mechanical/electrical engineering role. - Strong practical understanding of engine-driven systems with transferable skills into CHP.
- Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Experience with control systems or engine management software is advantageous, although training will be provided where required.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while maintaining strong communication with office-based teams.
- Positive, proactive attitude with excellent customer-facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the region with occasional overnight stays.
