Interim Financial Controller

A fast growing, science led organisation in Luton are actively looking for a hands-on Interim Financial Controller for a period of 3-5 months.

The role combines day-to-day financial control with more complex reporting and commercial work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail and wants clear scope to develop and progress. The role will be based in the office 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

• Producing Monthly Management pack
• Prepare statutory accounts, financial statements and management reports in line with UK regulations
• Lead external and internal audits, managing requests and timelines
• Manage the month end close, including accruals, prepayments and deferred revenue
• Produce cost centre reporting, management accounts and group reporting packs
• Oversee day-to-day ledger activity including AP, AR, VAT returns and bank reconciliations
• Prepare budgets and forecasts with cost centre owners and senior stakeholders
• Maintain accurate financial data across finance and purchasing systems
• Produce cash flow forecasts across relevant currencies
• Review and approve purchase orders and expenses
• Line manage a Management Accountant and support their development

Skills & Experience Required

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Strong hands-on experience across month end, year end, VAT, tax, reporting, budgeting and forecasting
• Experience with purchase ledger, invoices and expenses
• Payroll checking and reconciliation experience
• Confident working with finance systems and accounting software
