LMJ Group — Luton or Kettering | Full-Time | Permanent

LMJ Group is a growing firm of Chartered Accountants dedicated to helping businesses transform financial data into strategic growth. With expertise in accounting, taxation, and payroll, we provide tailored solutions that simplify financial complexities for our clients.

Our team goes beyond traditional accounting — we offer clarity, insight, and strategic advice to guide businesses through every stage of their growth journey. We are committed to empowering our clients with the tools and understanding they need to achieve long-term, sustainable success.

As we expand our management accounting division, this is an exciting moment to join us. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the business, take ownership of a developing service line, and progress into a Practice Manager role as the division scales.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time, role-based at either our Luton or Kettering office. The successful candidate will oversee a portfolio of clients, manage end-to-end accounting processes, and ensure full compliance with financial regulations — while also taking a leading role in the growth of our management accounting offering.

This is not a role for someone looking to stand still. We are building something, and we want this person at the centre of it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage a varied client portfolio, acting as the primary point of contact for senior-level relationships
  • Preparation and review of year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns (CT600) and self-assessment tax returns
  • Management of VAT returns across multiple clients with full MTD compliance
  • Ensure clients remain fully compliant with all relevant financial regulations and HMRC obligations
Management Accounts
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts to a consistently high standard
  • Producing detailed budgets and forecasts aligned with each client's business goals
  • Variance analysis, KPI tracking, and clear narrative commentary for management and board-level reporting
  • Cash flow modelling, financial projections, and scenario planning to support client strategic decision-making
  • Go beyond the numbers — provide clients with meaningful financial insight and advice that supports their growth
  • Prepare detailed budget plans and financial strategies tailored to individual business needs
  • Present and communicate financial data clearly to non-finance business owners and stakeholders
Leadership & Practice Development
  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior and semi-senior team members
  • Take ownership of the management accounts service line as it grows, with a clear pathway to leading the division
  • Contribute to workflow planning, capacity management, and continuous process improvement
  • Support business development — identifying opportunities to expand service offerings and deepen client value
  • Work closely with the Directors and Partners to evolve the practice structure toward a Practice Manager model
Skills & Experience Required
  • Minimum 7 years' experience working within an accountancy practice — this is a firm requirement
  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or qualified by substantial demonstrable experience at senior level)
  • Extensive, hands-on experience in management accounts — including budgeting, forecasting, and monthly/quarterly reporting packs
  • Strong technical grounding in year-end statutory accounts preparation and review
  • Proven competency across corporation tax, self-assessment, and VAT
  • Confident communicator with the ability to deliver financial insight and strategic advice to clients at all levels
  • Proven experience building and managing strong, long-term client relationships
  • Practice experience across a diverse client portfolio spanning multiple industries and business sizes
  • Proficiency with Xero, Quick Books, IRIS, or CCH
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior members of an accounts team
  • Familiarity with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and implementation
  • Commercial awareness and a genuine appetite for growing and leading a service division
What We Offer
  • A clear, supported progression pathway to Practice Manager as our management accounts division grows
  • The opportunity to lead and shape a developing division within a forward-thinking, ambitious practice
  • Competitive salary, reviewed in line with progression and contribution
  • A collaborative team environment with strong, accessible Partner and Director support
  • Flexible location — based at either our Luton or Kettering office
  • Ongoing CPD support and professional development funding
  • The chance to be part of a firm where your strategic input genuinely matters
