Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Housing Compliance Officer to join our team on a 6‑month contract, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will ensure that all properties within the housing portfolio meet statutory, regulatory, and organisational compliance standards. This includes overseeing health & safety, gas safety, electrical compliance, fire safety, and general housing compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure full compliance with all housing-related legislation, including gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, legionella, and general health & safety regulations.

* Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments across the property portfolio.

* Review contractor documentation, certificates, and inspection reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

* Maintain up‑to‑date compliance records and produce detailed reports for management.

* Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies to resolve compliance issues promptly.

* Monitor performance against KPIs and ensure deadlines for statutory checks are met.

* Support the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.

* Respond to enquiries relating to compliance, providing guidance and support where needed.

* Identify risks, non‑compliance, or areas for improvement, ensuring swift action is taken.

* Assist with any compliance‑related projects or initiatives during the contract period.

Skills & Experience Required

* Experience working in a housing compliance or property compliance role (social housing experience desirable).

* Strong understanding of housing legislation and health & safety regulations.

* Knowledge of compliance areas such as gas safety, electrical safety, fire safety, asbestos, and legionella.

* Ability to analyse compliance reports and ensure accuracy of certificates and documentation.

* Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.

* Confident communicator, able to work with contractors, tenants, and internal stakeholders.

* Proficient with compliance systems and MS Office.

* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a fast‑paced environment
