Job Description

If you answered ‘yes’ to the above questions, then consider the role of Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) with Bedfordshire Police.

The role involves giving vital support to vulnerable people and victims of crime within our communities, working with both young and old, building trust and relationships between the public and the police. You will work alongside regular officers in a dedicated community policing team to help embed neighbourhood policing across the county. The role also offers an entry route into policing;

completing at least two years as a PCSO provides the experience equivalent to the level 3 qualification required for the PCDA route.

Responsibilities
  • Support vulnerable and victimised individuals within the community
  • Build trust and relationships between the public and the police
  • Work under shift patterns as part of a dedicated community policing team
  • Undertake health assessment and DNA & fingerprint elimination sample where required
  • Contribute to maintaining public safety and local policing objectives
Requirements
  • Full UK manual driving licence (driving record must be suitable for police duties)
  • Must be available for a range of shifts including nights and weekends
  • Must pass health assessment with our Occupational Health Unit
  • Provision of a DNA and fingerprint elimination sample (required for high‑risk roles)
  • Achieve Competency and Value Framework (CVF) Level 1
