Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Therapy Support Worker - Orthopaedics and Surgical wards. You will be expected to assist the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering a high quality service for patients on the surgical and orthopaedic wards in the hospital. This may involve:
- Teaching patients exercise programmes
- Helping patients to walk and move
- Working with patients to achieve as much independence as possible with washing/dressing/toileting tasks and with making hot drinks and meal preparation
- Assisting the therapist during treatment sessions
- Issuing mobility and functional equipment
- Administrative tasks
You should have previous experience in an acute care setting.
Main duties of the job- To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of patients as delegated by the Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist
- To accept patients referred by the Multi-disciplinary Team and relay all necessary information to the therapists to allow timely interventions.
- To accept patients referred by a qualified Therapist, treat them according to set treatment protocols, monitor progression and make alterations, within agreed parameters.
- Work is not always directly supervised but is evaluated and monitored daily. Access to qualified staff is always available if required. Patients progress to be reported back on a timely basis.
- To assist in the administration and clerical duties of the team.
- To develop and maintain competencies through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Person Specification Qualification and training (Essential)- Education to GCSE or equivalent with grade C in English
