Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work within the Early Intervention in Psychosis team in Luton and Bedfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and dedicated team. You will join other psychologists, CBT therapists and Assistant Psychologists working within this Early Intervention and At Risk Mental State (ARMS) Service. Caseloads will be zoned to the north or south of the county with a local base;
however, there is flexibility for countywide provision of care.
- Ensure the systematic provision of a high‑quality, comprehensive specialist psychology service to service users.
- Provide all members of the MDT with a psychologically based framework for understanding clients through advice, consultation and dissemination of psychological research and theory.
- Deliver specialist psychological assessments, formulations and therapies, specialist risk assessments and advice on risk management, and psychological advice and consultation to others involved in service user care.
- Conduct clinical work across inpatient and community resources, including the client's own home.
- Drive to cover the geographical area required by the service.
- Provide specialist teaching, supervision and advice concerning the assessment and treatment of this client group.
- Utilise research skills for audit, policy, research and service development within the service as a whole and specifically for psychology within the service.
- Attend regular psychology meetings that focus on Clinical Governance and peer‑led Continual Professional Development (CPD).
- Excellent knowledge of and skills in psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
- Awareness of the issues around first‑episode psychosis and experience working psychologically with people with psychosis and complex mental health issues.
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions for this client group.
- Experience in risk assessment and risk management within a mental health context.
- Experience in teaching, supervision and providing psychological consultancy to multidisciplinary teams.
