The post holder will be working in a busy department at Bedford hospital. They will be part of a team who provide the administration of the patient pathway. We provide a wide range of services for skin cancer, emergency trauma, elective surgery and laser treatments.

As part of a team, the post holder will be booking patients for their procedures including both in main theatre and minor surgery lists.

Main duties of the job

To book and manage patient procedures (both inpatient and outpatient) adhering to national and local guidelines.

Monitor and manage follow‑up and treatment waiting lists to ensure timely progression through the patient pathway.

Provide a customer focused service dealing with all patients or visitors in an efficient, polite and courteous manner

Handle queries from patients/relatives confidentially and sensitively; referring clinical-related queries to appropriate staff

Support the booking of Cancer, 2 week wait (2WW) patients as appropriate and within Trust pathway guidance.

Be aware of the targets in the NHS plan and how actions taken in everyday procedures affect these targets

To be aware of 18 week RTT guidance and speciality pathways, and support with data validation where required.

  • GCSE mathematics and English (or equivalent)
