As a business architect you will work internally and with key partners across the Insurancemarket making sure our capabilities and architecture work end-to-end. You will play a keyrole as a business design expert and innovative thinker with a strong practical focus. Working at a macro to mid-level you will innovate business model designs to create value for Interpham and influence the shape and focus of change initiatives to support strategic goals.

You will also develop and maintain business capabilities across Interpham in line with the company strategy. You will contribute to the development of business strategy and plans, assessing projects in line with the architectural framework and making recommendations to optimise business and customer value through change approaches. You will establish principles and governing policies, and use this to develop capabilities and recommendations for change.

This is a hands‑on role and will require the creation and maintenance of key Business Architecture artefacts including business models, business process maps and capability definitions.

Responsibilities Business Design

The Business Architect plays a key role in ensuring ‘architectural thinking’ is embedded across the business. Working closely with the technical and solutions architect they use all architectural artefacts (process, capabilities, data, systems etc) to identify synergies and optimise value through change design:

Develop business design models based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations, including the creation of customer journeys and value maps.

Apply a structured business design approach and methodology for capturing the high-level views of the business unit and customer needs in the context of the strategic goals.

Pull together disconnected documentation and drawings and articulate their relevance to the organisation and to high level business issues through analysis, making design recommendations to drive maximum value.

Identify structural issues within the organisation, functional dependencies and cross‑silo redundancies, and design better ways of working.

Act as a bridge between the business and IT, translating business requirements to IT and understand and manage data conflicts with the business.

Assess proposed projects/business problems against architectural blueprints to optimise both business and customer value and ensure architectural alignment is maintained.

Work closely with Technology to align technical solutions with business needs.

Deliver high‑level design approaches to address business problems in line with the business architecture.

Support the development of business cases and benefit qualification, ensuring strategic fit and clear drivers.

Reference Architecture

Develop a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations.

Maintain and develop the business capability reference model, mapping capability functionality to other architectural artefacts e.g. data architecture, application architecture.

Keep business architecture alive and current as a body of knowledge.

Assess current capability maturity and promote activities to develop capabilities and close gaps e.g. local action plans in place owned by business units.

Engage at project level to communicate the architecture and promote the project’s alignment with it.

Translate strategic initiatives into delivery‑focused change initiatives.

Explore efficiency/effectiveness and value add opportunities through interrogation of the business architecture and the change portfolio and use this to inform strategic planning processes.

Stakeholder management and Influencing

Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships internally and externally at all levels, and influence the approach to how the both Velonetic and the Market approach change.

Demonstrate a solid understanding of the business challenges Velonetic faces, the drivers for change and use this to design and recommend new ways of working.

Be recognised as a key contributor to business transformation and embedding of the business architecture.
