School Caretaker - Luton
Permanent Position | £21,000-£26,000 per annum, depending on hours and experience
A well-established secondary school in Luton is looking to appoint a reliable, hardworking and practical School Caretaker to join its dedicated premises team on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school's buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
The Role- Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school site.
- Ensuring buildings and grounds are kept clean, safe and well presented.
- Conducting regular premises checks and reporting any maintenance or safety issues.
- Opening and securing the school buildings as required.
- Monitoring heating, lighting, alarms and other site systems.
- Assisting with deliveries, contractors and visitors.
- Supporting basic grounds maintenance and outdoor upkeep.
- Responding promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies.
- Supporting the school's health and safety procedures.
- Carrying out other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the school.
- Practical, reliable and hardworking.
- Confident undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs.
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative.
- Organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Approachable and able to communicate well with staff, pupils and contractors.
- Committed to maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.
- Flexible and willing to respond to the changing needs of a busy school.
Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or school premises role would be advantageous, although applications from candidates with relevant practical experience are also welcomed.
