Hostel Service Manager
Contract:
Permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £42,500 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours:
37 hours per week (Monday to Friday) – Participating in a planned on‑call rota with Team Leaders, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, responding to emergency incidents and providing timely advice, direction and decision‑making.
Location:
Luton (agile working across our supported housing properties)
Essential Car User Allowance paid in addition to mileage reimbursement.
OverviewOur client is a well‑established, values‑led not‑for‑profit organisation providing high‑quality supported housing services. They are seeking an experienced Hostel Services Manager to lead a dedicated team delivering safe, person‑centred accommodation and support services for vulnerable adults.
Responsibilities- Lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary supported housing team.
- Oversee service quality, safeguarding, tenancy sustainment and customer outcomes.
- Manage operational performance, budgets, income collection and key performance indicators.
- Drive continuous improvement through effective service reviews and process development.
- Ensure compliance with housing legislation, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.
- Build effective partnerships with local authorities, commissioners and community organisations.
- Support strategic development of supported housing services.
- Participate in a planned on‑call rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Significant management experience within supported housing, homelessness, social care or a related environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing high‑performing teams.
- Strong understanding of working with vulnerable adults and person‑centred support.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing operational performance, budgets and service improvement initiatives.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and housing‑related legislation.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Relevant qualification in housing, social care, leadership or a related discipline.
- Experience working with local authorities and commissioned services.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and homelessness services.
- Experience with grant‑funded or externally commissioned projects.
- Coaching and mentoring experience.
- 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with service (up to 38 days).
