Specialist Community Public Health Nursing; School Nurse

Join our school nursing team to deliver early intervention, health promotion and tailored care for children and families across Bedfordshire and Luton.

• Provide the core school nursing programme to families and the community.
• Conduct holistic assessments of clients’ health needs and develop, implement, and review individual care plans.
• Review and evaluate outcomes for children and families, ensuring continual improvement of care quality.
• Refer clients to appropriate agencies, including onward referral of vulnerable children and adults.
• Develop specialist protection plans in collaboration with professionals where indicated (e.g., Child Protection Plan).
• Act as a signpost for families to other relevant services, empowering them as users.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, carers, and staff, and adhere to evidence‑based practice.
• Promote and participate in health promotion initiatives within the schools.

• Registered Nurse (Adult or Paediatric) with current NMC registration.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory standards.
• Knowledge of NMC Code of Professional Conduct, safeguarding, and child protection.
• Experience of health promotion, child health, and family support.
• Advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Systm One, and other NHS systems.
• Experience in negotiating and liaising within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, record keeping, report writing, and data collection.
• Critical reasoning and problem‑solving abilities.

• Experience in community nursing and working with children/young people.
• Experience of delivering school nursing services or similar public health roles.
• Evidence of undertaking audit and contributing to service evaluation.
