Veterinary Surgeon – Maternity Cover
Join Vets for Pets for a Veterinary Surgeon - Maternity Cover role at our Luton practice. The position starts May 2026 and offers a great team environment with real job satisfaction.
OverviewThe role is initially a 6‑month contract, later rolling, with a 4‑day week Monday to Friday (8:30‑19:00) and one early finish at 17:00. Saturdays are 9:00‑16:00 only about one in four. There is no OOH or sole charge, allowing a healthy work/life balance.
This balanced role combines surgery and medicine. As a solid GP practice we work at a steady pace, with a well‑managed rota and 20‑minute standard consults.
About YouThe ideal candidate wants to thrive as a general practitioner. We are flexible with experience level; whether you have many years of experience or need additional support, we provide a supportive environment that encourages further education and certificates. We also offer potential partnership/part‑ownership opportunities for those interested in ownership stakes.
PracticeOur practice is RCVS accredited at General Practice Level. We have separate cat and dog wards, 4 consulting rooms, theatre, prep area, diagnostic room and a fully stocked pharmacy. Equipment includes ultrasound, video endoscope, digital X‑ray, full IDEXX in‑house laboratory, K‑Laser, blood pressure machine and a multiparameter monitor.
Benefits- Salary up to £65k (pro rata) depending on skills and experience.
