Goods Inwards & Mechanical Inspector

Job Description

We are looking for a Goods-in / Mechanical Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and safety, directly contributing to the success of our innovative projects.

This role will combine 2 key responsibilities:

• Book in, Inspect and verify incoming goods, materials, and components against specifications, drawings, and documentation.
• Ensure that the correct quality standards, part numbers, and certifications are in place.
• Identify and report any discrepancies or non-conformities with received items.
• Maintain accurate records and support inventory and logistics teams to resolve quality issues.

• Perform detailed inspections of mechanical components and assemblies, using precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometres, callipers, CMM, 3D Scanner).
• Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure components meet the required tolerances and design standards.
• Measure mechanical parts to confirm that they meet functionality and safety criteria.
• Document inspection results, identify defects, and report non-conformances, providing support to engineering teams for corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for all mechanical parts.

• Experience :
  Previous experience in a quality control or inspection role, preferably in mechanical inspection or goods-in processes within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills :
  Proficiency in using mechanical inspection tools and equipment (e.g., callipers, micrometres, height gauges).
• Attention to Detail : A keen eye for detail with a focus on ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and quality.
• Problem-Solving :
  Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify defects, discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Communication :
  Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively report findings and collaborate with team members and suppliers.
• Team Player :
  Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and foster good working relationships.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
