We’re looking for an Allocations & Lettings Officer to join our Temporary Accommodation Allocations & Lettings Team within the Housing Needs Service.

You’ll play an important role in placing homeless households into suitable interim and temporary accommodation, making nominations under Section 193 and helping to ensure accommodation is allocated efficiently.

You’ll also build strong working relationships with temporary accommodation providers, coordinating placements and helping to ensure a smooth and effective service for those who need our support.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organised andconfidentin dealing with people, with strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

You’ll be comfortable handling difficult enquiries, providing clear advice, influencing others and building positive relationships with customers, colleagues and external providers.

You’ll be able to workindependentlyas well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, managing competing priorities, working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Good IT skills, including Word, Excel, databases and electronic communications, are essential, along with the ability to present information clearly and accurately.

You should have a goodunderstandingof housing allocations, homelessness and temporary accommodation legislation, including the Suitability Order 2012, Housing Benefit regulations and Landlord & Tenant law. Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty is also important. A Level 3 qualification in Housing Services/Practices, equivalent experience, or a willingness to undertake relevant training is required.

The role involves occasional travel to sites across the borough and some out-of-hours working may be required.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken.
