Chief Software Engineer

Salary Range
: £80,000 - £90,000

Leonardo UK operates a grade‑based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

As a Chief Software Engineer you will be responsible for key technical aspects of software development across fixed, drone and rotary programmes, considering requirements, architecture, tooling, governance and testing as part of your role. You will also support and influence the wider business, engaging with other disciplines and senior leadership.

• High integrity / critical software development in an aerospace or similar environment (Nuclear, Rail, Finance, Medical, etc.)
• Experience across all aspects of the software development life cycle
• Demonstrable experience in delivering software projects

This is not an exhaustive list; the most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
