As a Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of a power generation facility on a 24/7 shift basis. You'll lead a team of operators, oversee plant performance, and ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are maintained at all times

Description

Lead and supervise the shift team to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
Operate, monitor, and control plant systems via DCS/HMI platforms.
Oversee the operation of turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment and auxiliary systems.
Monitor Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) to ensure environmental compliance.
Manage plant start-ups, shutdowns, inspections, and routine operational checks.
Coordinate minor reactive maintenance activities and plant stoppages.
Support contractors and provide technical guidance to operational personnel.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Environmental Permit conditions, and company procedures.
Maintain accurate shift logs, records, and performance reports.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations and team performance.
Promote high housekeeping standards and a strong safety culture throughout the facility.

Profile

A successful Shift Team Leader should have:

Experience with in power generation, energy from waste, steam raising, utilities, or a similar industrial process environment.
Previous experience operating and monitoring plant equipment from both control room and plant environments.
Working knowledge of DCS, HMI, or SCADA control systems.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
HNC, NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification, or relevant time-served experience.
Strong understanding of safe systems of work and operational compliance.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Practical mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to plant operations.
IOSH, NEBOSH, BOAS, AP or SAP qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential
