Job OverviewRetail Security Officer role to protect the Waitrose store, its people, and/or assets by providing security and excellent customer service through Mitie and Waitrose key values.
£16 per hour payrate alongside numerous Mitie benefits including Save As You Earn, Share Incentive Plan, Cycle to Work, Life Assurance and Childcare Vouchers.

Full and extensive training will be provided including MAYBO and key focus on customer service.
Company funded SIA licence renewal.
Fully supported by the NOC and provided with technology such as body‑worn camera and incident reporting device.
Delivering results that meet and/or exceed the expectations of Mitie and Waitrose by using all technology provided and following ASCONE guidance.
What We Are Looking For- Previous security experience
- SIA licence
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- Energy and enthusiasm
- To be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law and guidance bodies.
- Fully engage with National Operations Centre (NOC) and Mitie management and use all technology provided, including body cameras and mobile devices to aid in the reporting of all incidents.
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AIs).
- Proactively review the published Assignment Instructions, familiarise oneself with any changes, and suggest amendments that would improve service.
- Be compliant with industry and statutory legislation (obtain a front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), wear it at all times and complete additional required courses.
- Work in a systematic, methodical, and orderly way.
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
- Undertake training to ensure continuous self‑development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
- Renew licence at least 16 weeks before expiry.
- Look out for and immediately report any health and safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
- Stay alert to threats or changes that could disrupt, cause loss or damage, and take appropriate action.
- Use common sense and initiative, involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
- Maintain professional conduct in challenging situations and with difficult customers.
- Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry promptly after any incident, as part of the incident report process.
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the client.
- Ensure check calls are performed at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the AIs.
- Call emergency services and communication centre to report all incidents.
