Overview
CASAS:
Carpentry, Residential Technical Studies, Adjunct Faculty. The Technical Studies Adjunct Instructor is a part-time position based at an off-campus instructional site in Altavista, VA. Instructors engage students with classroom and lab instruction using the NCCER curriculum and must maintain communication with students while adhering to Liberty University policies and Christian mission.
- Classroom instruction/management
- Lab instruction/management
- Perform and supervise trade-related work
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Work with classroom-related technology (Canvas, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies and represent the University exemplary
- Collaborate effectively as a team member to support LU’s mission – Training Champions for Christ
- Ensure hands-on activities prepare students for a career in carpentry per NCCER curriculum requirements
- Minimum of four years of field experience as a carpenter
- Experience reflecting both residential and commercial work
- Industry-recognized licenses or certifications
- Preference for a degree and/or licenses or certificates related to the field
- Communication and Comprehension — Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; professional representation of Liberty University; strong organizational skills; computer skills.
- Problem Solving — Ability to reason, analyze information, apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
- Physical and Sensory Abilities — May be required to travel; sit to perform deskwork; regularly hear and speak to communicate; stand, walk, and climb stairs; handle materials; lift up to 50 pounds; perform trade-related work.
This position requires work in a field-like setting, including uncontrolled climates, loud work areas, and hazardous conditions. In-person work at an off-campus site in Altavista, VA.
