What You’ve Accomplished
- Completion of a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering degree
- At least 2 years of directly related experience
- An advanced degree may be substituted for related years of experience
- Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data (meetings, email, presentations, customer deliverables, etc.)
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships
- Works collaboratively within a team environment
- Good problem identification and resolution skills
- Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking
- Advanced level of Microsoft Office and business unit specific software tools (ex. CAD, FEA, CFD, etc.) and computer programming skills

You may have also acquired the following skills:
- Prolonged experience with industrial machinery in one or more of the following areas
- Manufacturing/Industrial Environment, Metal Fabrication, Machine Design, Maintenance, or Reliability
- Support equipment designs, improvements, field troubleshooting, and equipment repairs
- Evaluate mechanical systems toward applicable Maintainability, Mechanical, standards, Industrial safety requirements, Nuclear Criticality Safety Criteria, Human Factors, Installation cost and schedule restraints
- Oversee field work including new installations, integration into existing systems, and troubleshooting
- Project Management experience ~ capital appropriations, cost, schedule
- Managing mechanical craft resources
This full-time role is about making an impact on people’s lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As a Mechanical Engineer in Richland, WA, you will be part of the proven team in the Fuel Business Unit. You will be required to learn existing plant systems and support improvement projects and maintenance activities at a facility with highly automated chemical processing and assembly equipment.
Major duties will include:
- Design and maintenance of nuclear fuel fabrication plant manufacturing equipment
- Design mechanical systems that satisfy applicable mechanical standards, human factors, installation/cost, and maintenance best practices.
- Oversee field work including new installations, integration into existing systems, and troubleshooting as required.
- Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
- Consults with engineering staff and technicians/craft to ensure compliance with design specifications and plant or industry standards.
- Apply advanced techniques in CAD and incorporate standard design applications.
- Start up, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of process and production equipment and associated facilities and support systems.
- Support of 24/7 fuel manufacturing facility in engineering projects and maintenance.

Framatome’s Richland, WA facility is a licensed nuclear fuel manufacturing site and complies with US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and US Department of Energy (DOE) regulations.
