Position OverviewAs our Quality Control (QC) Engineer you will provide QC engineering support for projects including next generation nuclear reactor design; reactor component development and fabrication; and advanced manufacturing technology development.
LocationOn-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office
Your Day to Day as a Quality Control Engineer- Develop inspection and test plans, as well as work packages, including the determination of inspection methods.
- Write, review, and qualify inspection procedures.
- Assist with the development of manufacturing plans.
- Assist the design team with the identification of test methods for design verification and validation activities.
- Oversee dimensional inspection personnel and perform inspections as necessary.
- Research, evaluate, and qualify new inspection equipment and techniques.
- Support current inspection equipment and systems.
- Provide support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities.
- Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances.
- Prepare QA data packages.
- Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and review supplier proposals.
- Review supplier inspection plans and procedures.
- Review supplier quality documentation.
- Perform source inspections and surveillances at suppliers.
- Create/maintain metrics for inspection.
- Support additional assignments by management.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience is required.
- Must have demonstrated understanding of dimensional inspection techniques.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret complex drawings including understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Must have knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques and NDE methods.
- Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Must have demonstrated proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
