- Solid foundation in material compatibility, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.

As an Early Career Chemical Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the NDE Solutions Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit.
The Chemical Application Engineering team designs the application process, identifies the optimum solvent, and applies the process onsite after setting up and testing the applications equipment. Daily activities will be diverse and largely depend on the status of each project assignment plus your designated role on the contracted assignment. Your work will include:
Working closely with process chemists and control engineers to ensure the application process is set up to perform as designed to achieve maximum results and efficiently run the process.
Designing plant and equipment configuration so that they can be readily adapted to suit the plant components and configurations taking environmental and economic aspects into account.
Scale-up/-down processes including appropriate changes to equipment design and configuration
Required to write procurement authorizations, follow procedures to operate components/systems.
Write reports documenting system/component testing, laboratory research, process application summaries, capture lessons learned, and document corrective actions.
Assessing options for process improvements, expansions, or reconfiguration by developing and testing process simulation models.
Applying new technologies and researching new products from trial through to commercialization and improving products and services
Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
Chem/Mech Engineering Bachelor's degree is preferred but an entry-level engineering degree will be considered
Knowledge and experience with SOLIDWORKS are beneficial
Must be able to obtain unescorted commercial nuclear and Department of Energy facility site access, which means a clear criminal history and passing controlled substance drug/alcohol testing
US Navy Nuclear Power Program is a plus
