This role is in the Scientific Computing, Automation and Development (SCAD) team in the IBPE Engineering organization. The SCAD team supports engineering analysis for Framatome’s Installed Base Products and Engineering organization for the existing light water reactor fleet, advanced reactors, and small modular reactors. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical or Civil engineering with strong coursework in computer science.
WhatYou’ll Do Day‑to‑Day
- Perform standard engineering assignments in design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, resolution of field problems, and quality events.
- Develop awareness of government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff.
- Under a mentor’s guidance, evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Physics, Engineering Technology or Engineering Science may also be accepted).
- Basic knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria.
- Exposure to CAD modeling and computer programming skills.
- Strong experience in scripting languages (Python, Bash) and LaTeX. Preference for experience with Scientific Python libraries (xarray, pandas, scipy, matplotlib), automated testing frameworks (pytest) and Python packaging (conda).
- Experience with source control (git) and developing chained execution processes.
- Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and/or dynamics. Experience in finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics.
- Experience working in nuclear industry (or other similarly regulated industries).
- Salary: $65,000 – $84,000, plus annual incentives and performance bonuses. Base salary range is a guideline; individual total compensation will vary based on qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
