Piano Tuner

School of Music student workers support the administrative and production needs of the School of Music. Daily functions include supporting the practice rooms, classes, ensembles, concerts, andrecitals throughout each semester.

• Assist Piano Technician with the regular tuning and maintenance of School of Music pianos.
• Perform regular weekly tuning, with the technique of setting the pin and the tuning itself aided by and conforming to a mastertuning on an electronic tuning device.
• Identify and address minor mechanical issues such as stickingkeys, buzzing strings, and loose pedals.
• Clean and maintain internal components of pianos, includingsoundboards, pins, and strings.
• Provides excellent customer service to the professors and students of the School of Music.
• Communicates effectively through both written and spoken meanswith supervisor, professors, and students.
• Represents and serves the School of Music in a professional,kind, and humble manner.
• Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
• Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

• An above average pitch perception
• Must be teachable
• Music majors or piano players preferred
• Must be detail oriented, keep records, and document work

• High school diploma
• 1-2 years work experience in any field preferred

• Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.

• May be required to travel across campus on rare occasions
• May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on akeyboard.
• Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to moveabout the campus.
• Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order toconduct business.
• Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlledsetting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. ForSOM productions and concerts, music levels may be above average,but will not exceed industry and OSHA safety standards. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoorsoccasionally.

Use of one’s personal vehicle may be required for travel across campus in the performance of the essential functions of this position.
