Overview
This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families. The counselor will offer one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals. They will work closely with installation and branch points of contact to ensure the program meets the installation’s needs. Additional duties include establishing spending plans for extended absences, developing informational materials, coordinating and publicizing personal financial management classes/workshops, responding to requests for age‑appropriate seminars, and utilizing virtual or electronic modes of communication when authorized.
The counselor will manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol, participate in supervision and training, and engage in quality improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned. All other duties as assigned are also expected.
- Bachelor’s degree required; may consider an associate degree plus 4 years of experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English. Bilingual in English and Spanish may be required.
- Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must successfully complete the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Certification:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
