Job DescriptionWe are seeking a well‑rounded attorney who combines legal expertise with a commitment to client service and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. This role is ideal for a versatile legal professional with a strong background in estate administration and estate planning who is passionate about guiding clients through the complexities of post‑death administration and legacy preservation.
This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring attorneys to be in the office several days per week for client meetings, team collaboration, and court preparations, while providing flexibility to work remotely for certain tasks. AboutThe Role
As an Attorney with this firm, you will assist clients with estate administration matters including probate filings, trust administration, and resolving disputes, as well as ongoing estate planning needs. You will play a critical role in developing personalized legal strategies, building lasting client relationships, and providing compassionate, clear legal advice during emotionally charged times.
Responsibilities- Administering estates through probate, including preparing and filing necessary court documents and working with personal representatives.
- Assisting clients with trust administration, asset distribution, and resolving beneficiary concerns.
- Drafting, reviewing, and finalizing estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced directives.
- Developing comprehensive legal strategies that address clients’ immediate and long‑term objectives.
- Conducting legal research and drafting opinions, memoranda, and correspondence.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships by understanding their goals and providing clear, actionable advice.
- Collaborating with colleagues across practice areas to deliver integrated legal solutions for clients.
- Active Virginia State Bar license (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning, estate administration, or general legal practice.
- Proven ability to draft complex legal documents with precision and clarity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust‑based relationships with clients.
- Excellent research and writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- A commitment to ethical standards, professionalism, and collaboration.
- Experience advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries through probate or trust disputes.
- Familiarity with advanced estate planning techniques, such as irrevocable trusts and charitable giving strategies.
- A solutions‑oriented mindset with a proactive approach to client challenges.
