Physical Security Systems and Technology Manager

Reporting to the Corporate Director, Public Safety and Security Services/Chief of Public Safety and serving in a key leadership capacity, the Physical Security Systems and Technology Manager assists by providing a wide scope of managerial functions in support of an industry-leading healthcare enterprise security risk management program. In addition to being responsible for all day‑to‑day public safety system and administrative functions associated with technology projects, the Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of facilities, staff, and community members through the effective integration of technology and law enforcement operations.

This position ensures systems are leveraged not only as protective tools but also as force multipliers that enhance prevention, deterrence, detection, response, and accountability.

The Physical Security Systems and Technology Manager is responsible for assisting the Corporate Director, Public Safety and Security Services/Chief of Public Safety with the strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing management of all physical security technologies and systems supporting public safety and security services operations. This includes oversight of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, communication systems, and other emerging security technologies.

The Manager ensures systems operate at the highest levels of reliability, compliance, and efficiency to safeguard people, property, and sensitive information. This role bridges law enforcement operations with technology solutions, providing expert leadership in system design, deployment, project management, vendor coordination, and team development. The individual plays a key role during emergency operations and, when incidents arise, assists in the organization's process for executing the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Must possess a strong understanding of healthcare security management programs and the know how to instill a department culture of providing the highest level of patient services and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Corporate Director, Public Safety and Security Services/Chief of Public Safety with day‑to‑day oversight and facilitate the implementation of best practices in professionalized public safety operations at all facilities owned or occupied by Centra Health.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Director to develop, implement, and support strategies to protect all Centra Health assets whether they are human, physical, or intellectual.
  • Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets, including making budget allocations, approving expenditures, submitting, and tracking purchases, and ensuring expenses are within budget.
  • Keeps customers and managers informed and involved; constantly monitors and evaluates public safety services on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support hospital and departmental mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Respond to and resolve complaints regarding DPSS System and Technology related issues.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and assist the Corporate Director by managing DPSS System and Technology budgets.
  • Serve as the department's subject matter expert in all DPSS System and Technology matters.
  • Direct and coordinate security technology projects from requirements gathering to implementation and evaluation; collaborate with IT, Facilities, and other departments for successful system integration.
  • Manage vendor contracts, service agreements, and maintenance schedules and track budgets and expenditures related to technology acquisition and upkeep.
  • Provide training programs and resources for public safety officers, security personnel, and staff on proper use of security technology and systems deployed.
  • Ensure all systems comply with federal, state, and local regulations, internal policies, and maintain strict confidentiality and chain of custody protocols.
