Job SummaryThe primary function of the Territory Account Manager is to maintain the current customer base within the territory while cultivating any potential new business. Actively seek out and target new customers for Service and Body Shops, maintain and improve relationships with existing customers, make sales calls on a regular basis, and assist in settling customer disputes with department managers. Additionally, the role requires compliance with federally mandated DOT regulations and participation in a drug‑free workplace program.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Prospect for New Business
- Review potential customers with department managers.
- Research new and existing customers.
- Develop action plans to target new and existing customers.
- Sales Calls
- Arrange and make sales calls to new and existing customers daily.
- Maintain a daily log of sales calls and review with department managers.
- Prepare and file sales call reports with the Service Manager.
- Make team sales calls with other salesmen or department managers.
- Prepare Repair Estimates and Quotes
- Work with service writers, foremen and department managers to prepare estimates and quotes for current customers.
- Deliver and explain estimates and quotes to customers.
- Work with customers to determine maintenance needs.
- Prepare quotes for contracts and preventive maintenance programs and present to customers.
- Organize meetings with customers and department managers to discuss quotes, estimates or programs.
- Develop a follow‑up plan covering all areas of customer relations for new and existing customers.
- Marketing
- Work with department managers and the marketing department to develop marketing plans.
- Actively market the departments that are represented.
- Assist in marketing the entire dealership.
- Account for Expenses
- Reconcile expenses through the Visa Spend Clarity website and submit detailed expense reports to the Corporate Service Director monthly for approval.
- Control expenses.
- Submit monthly mileage to the Procurement Manager.
- Maintain company vehicle to company standards of cleanliness, professionalism and maintenance requirements.
- Promotional Events
- Organize vendor training when customers are invited.
- Promote and organize company events.
- Coordinate visits with customers and vendors.
- Computer Skills
- Learn and use a PC/database to maintain customer information.
- Use word‑processing programs to file sales reports.
- Learn and use vendor software for demonstration purposes.
- Warranty
- Attain basic knowledge of vendor warranties and advise customers.
- Work with the Warranty Department to educate customers about warranties.
- Keep current on warranty and service programs.
- Act as a liaison between the Warranty Department and customers if problems arise.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of sales experience.
- Innovative sales skills, including research and targeting customers.
- Willingness to travel.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
