Painter

Overview

Perform painting/plastering maintenance and repairs to campus facilities. Apply working knowledge of paint and plastering techniques according to application requirements. May be required to work additional hours, weekends, or be on call to meet service requirements.

• Perform routine, corrective and painting/plastering projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Estimate time and material costs of various projects.
• Inspect completed repairs.
• Request requisition of materials and equipment from supervisor.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• May be required to work additional hours or on weekends if necessary to meet service requirements.
• May periodically be required to be on call.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years experience in painting/plastering field.
• Knowledge of materials used in painting, including finishes, stains, plasters, adhesives and related hardware.
• Knowledge of paint and plastering techniques according to application requirements.
• Read, speak, write English and have good verbal skills.
• Ability to work well with others and function as a mentor for student workers.
• Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook & other Microsoft products.
• Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

• 5 years experience in the painting/plastering field.
• Painting experience in a higher education/college setting.
• Experience with sharing an on‑call roster.

Travel required is limited to on campus and periodically off campus to obtain materials required to perform your daily duties. Randolph College requires a valid driver’s license issued from the state of Virginia to operate a college‑owned vehicle and as a prerequisite to driving a college‑owned vehicle the applicant must pass a driver safety session with the campus security department.

Work in conditioned/unconditioned spaces, mechanical rooms & confined spaces. Requires full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing and walking. Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Must have good vision, with or without corrective lenses. Must have manual dexterity to operate motorized equipment.
