AV Installation Technician 3 – AVI‑SPL

Responsibilities- Perform installation tasks for AVI‑SPL contracted projects (cable pulls, terminations, system equipment, rack fabrication, wiring layouts, metal fabrication).
- Lead and direct installation crews on larger, more complex projects, coordinating and reporting progress to the Project Manager to ensure time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate site leadership, mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, and verify quality of work.
- Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
- Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors and perform other AV system related tasks.
- Test point‑to‑point cabling, system functionality, and control/DSP systems; field load as necessary.
- Download/upload programming files into hardware.
- Provide remote assistance to commissioners and programmers.
- Troubleshoot and test simple conferencing systems.
- Support engineers or programmers with minor programming changes.
- Track, manage, and secure all equipment and tools on job site.
- Work with office staff to initiate return‑material authorizations when needed.
- Support the Project Manager with site supervision, daily status communication, and required documentation.
- Act as customer liaison per project scope and direct on‑site change requests to the Project Manager.
- Communicate and coordinate with other trades on site.
- Perform client training as needed.
- Travel to various job sites as required.
- Effective communication with employees, customers, and colleagues.
- Safe and efficient use of hand and power tools.
- Independent work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of complex wiring configurations and signal flow for audio, video, control, and network.
- Leadership of site teams on medium to large, complex projects.
- Minor control system programming and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Proficiency with test equipment for required applications.
- Understanding and application of industry installation safety codes and standards.
- Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record meeting AVI‑SPL driving privileges standards.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of audiovisual, electronics, or related industry installation experience.
- Formal education in Audio‑Visual, Electronics, or a related field.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Industry‑specific and manufacturer training/certifications that meet AVI‑SPL skill/ability requirements.
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Course.
- Confirmed Project Site Lead experience.
- Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (government or system specific) if required.
