The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for the design and instruction of safe, high-quality, effective, challenging, and fun group exercise classes as determined by the class format and description.

• Design and teach effective, safe and enjoyable exercise classes using proper exercise progressions and cueing techniques.
• Plan composition/choreography of each class, consistently changing music and routines relative to the class participants.
• Maintain positive rapport with participants (and parents of participants, if applicable).

• High school diploma or GED required;
  Associates degree preferred.
• Current national NCCA‑accredited Group Exercise Instructor certification, or YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification. If not currently certified, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• All YMCA employees are mandated reporters of child abuse or neglect.

• Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
• Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.

• A free membership to your local YMCA and discount to YMCA programs including childcare (part‑time positions do not receive discount on childcare).
• Additional employee discounts at many places in and around town, just for being a YMCA of Greater Cleveland employee.
