Overview
Job Description - PRN Medical Assistant Urodynamics Tech, Urology - Lyndhurst (2500057Q)
What You Will Do- Operates, calibrates, and performs minor maintenance on electronic urodynamic equipment; ensures that urodynamic machines are functioning and accurate prior to daily patient appointments; prepares and arranges instruments, towels, solutions, and other supplies for urodynamic appointments.
- Clinical:
Prepares patients and assists professional staff in performing a variety of urodynamic tests and related genito-urinary procedures, in addition to operating the machines; responsible for catheterization of assigned patients under aseptic, atraumatic conditions; observes condition of patients and reports unusual conditions; acts as a resource person to professional staff on the use of urodynamic machines relative to the needs and characteristics of individual cases;
carries out oral instructions and written doctor’s orders within scope of practice; explains procedures to patients; collects urologic specimens from patients and sends them to the main laboratory as appropriate; assists in lifting patients and assists wheelchair patients to stand or walk short distances; provide age appropriate patient care to all age groups; demonstrate knowledge and skills for safety; assist in clinical needs as necessary during downtime (e.g., triage line, room patients). - Patient Scheduling:
Schedules appointments when necessary and contacts patients to verify appointments; reschedules patient appointments when necessary equipment is dysfunctional and cannot be repaired in a timely manner; follows worklist in AEMR to coordinate referrals and ensure proper testing is completed prior to appointment; performs other related duties as required. - Other:
Plan, organize, prioritize and maintain workflow to facilitate department goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
- Must possess a diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Experienced medical assistant (Required)
- 1+ years Experience as a medical assistant with direct patient care. (Required)
- Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships (Required proficiency)
- Ability to work in a high stress environment (Required proficiency)
- Urodynamics equipment (Required proficiency)
- Catheter insertion and removal (Required proficiency)
- Patient care equipment specific to population (Required proficiency)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers within 6 Months (Required)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Required)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Preferred)
- Certificate of training in Urodynamics and Ultrasonic bladder scanning (Preferred)
- Certificate of training in Urodynamics and Ultrasonic bladder scanning within 6 Months (Required)
