Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn is hiring!

We have an immediate need for a full-time, non-exempt STEM Coordinator to positively impact the lives of youth in a pro‑girl space through the exploration of, and connection to, science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming. The salary range for this position is $48,000 - $54,000 annually
. As a full‑time role, the STEM Coordinator is eligible to participate in the organization's benefits programs.

POSITION OVERVIEW (What we’re looking for)

As a member of the Programs department, the STEM Coordinator plans, implements, and coordinates all components of the science, technology, engineering, and math curriculum for girls across the organization. The role supports staff and peer educators in delivering age‑appropriate programs and tutoring aimed at improving girls’ attitudes and feelings about STEM disciplines while increasing awareness of STEM events, education, and careers.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the STEM Coordinator is a vital resource in implementing healthy approaches to assist participants in leading productive and fulfilling lives. The work schedule for this position will be between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with the flexibility of a hybrid work environment that includes both remote and on‑site work at the Lynn Center and Boston sites for various training opportunities.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS & DUTIES (What you'll be achieving)

At a minimum, the STEM Coordinator will be responsible for successfully carrying out the following essential functions and duties:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a creative, hands‑on STEM curriculum with staff to augment programs (i.e., Eureka summer program).
  • Train staff and volunteers on the curriculum for every session of programming.
  • Train and supervise Peer Leaders to deliver peer‑led STEM programs and academic tutoring throughout the academic year.
  • Work closely with other Program staff to ensure high‑quality community events for students and families (i.e., family nights, field trips, Special events, etc.).
  • Maintain partnership between Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn, schools, and STEM‑related community partners (i.e., Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center (MSC) in Nahant).
  • Identify girls with low STEM scores and provide access to one‑on‑one tutoring.
  • Create and maintain metrics for evaluating girls’ STEM skills by assisting the Director with Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) requirements and assessments.
  • Maintain staff communication around all STEM‑related opportunities happening across site‑based and center‑based programming.
  • Assist Girls Inc. Headquarters with coordinating trainings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (What you’ll bring along)

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in natural science, mathematics, or a related field from an accredited university. The educational requirement may be substituted with four years of relevant experience.

Experience:

Minimum of three years of experience in STEM or education‑related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing K‑12 youth programs.
  • Strong interest and competency in math and/or science.
  • Prior experience in youth‑focused work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applications to conduct day‑to‑day administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends to support programming and related events.
  • Fluent in multiple languages (English, English/Spanish, Haitian Creole/English, etc.) is a plus.
