School Based Health Center – Nurse Practitioner

Based at Lynn Community Health Center, the role is responsible for the health care, treatment, and education of children and adolescents in a school setting.

• Conduct history and physical exams and deliver appropriate care.
• Provide sick care and render diagnosis and treatment as indicated.
• Refer seriously ill patients to a physician or hospital as deemed necessary.
• Perform emergency treatment in case of serious illness or injury.
• Provide health teaching to patients and their families.
• Participate with community members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate school services and community services, including the broad continuum of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.

• Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the expanded role in Massachusetts.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program (master’s preferred); maintain certifications.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in school nursing or a related field.
• Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association).
• Identified physician who provides consultation.
• Completion of ongoing continuing education programs in school health and meeting licensure requirements for the expanded role.
