The Lynn Water & Sewer Commission is seeking individuals who have prior construction and labor experience, able to operate heavy equipment and tools including but not limited to; jack hammers, pry bars, pumping generators, shovels, etc. A strong candidate must have the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in all weather conditions as a team member, along with the general knowledge of job site procedures.
A Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required with CDL General Knowledge, Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements.
A Sewer Construction Man performs heavy laboring tasks required in the construction and maintenance of sewers and drains and other related projects incidental to sewer collection system maintenance and repair. A Water System Craftsman performs all heavy laboring tasks required in the installation, repair and maintenance of the water system and other related duties.
MECHANIC DUTIESUnder general or direct supervision, perform skilled repairs and maintenance on motor vehicles and stationary equipment, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair or overhaul two (2) cycle and four (4) cycle gasoline and diesel engines and electrical systems. Must be able to troubleshoot, adjust, repair or replace any and all components of the drive line‑steering‑suspension and braking systems which includes hydraulic, air and vacuum systems.
Do the necessary work to keep the equipment in safe and dependable condition such as engine tune‑ups, lubrications and maintenance of lights and safety equipment and perform preventive maintenance operations when scheduled. Must have the ability to do rough bodywork. Paint, braze and weld as necessary. Perform other related duties such as, but not limited to, pumping fuel, checking fluid levels, changing tires and filters, performing road service, washing equipment and keeping garage repair area in a clean and safe working condition.
