RoleSummary
The Classroom Aide/Driver 2 transports individuals safely to and from day service programs as their driver. As an aide, duties include developing, implementing, and supervising a training program designed to meet each individual’s needs, case management of designated individuals, and participation in general duties.
ScheduleMonday‑Friday 8:00 am‑4:00 pm (40 hours per week)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work with and train individuals on specific day service plan objectives.
- Collect data on goals of each individual.
- Document medical data or target behaviors daily.
- Participate in all general programmatic duties (arrivals, breaks, lunches, departures).
- Assist with upkeep and maintenance of the program, follow the cleaning schedule, and report maintenance issues.
- Protect each individual's rights and maintain confidentiality of any information.
- Complete any administrative duties as assigned.
- Participate in all required meetings.
- Maintain all appropriate certifications, including FA/CPR and PABC.
- Assist all individuals in entering and exiting the vehicle and ensure seatbelts are properly secured.
- Interact with patience and sensitivity in all contact with individuals, family members, staff, and others.
- Operate the vehicle at all times within all federal, state, and local laws.
- Have good knowledge of routes and locations of all houses, day facilities, and emergency locations.
- Maintain and carry emergency fact sheets, daily attendance, and trip route sheets.
- Complete a quick vehicle safety checklist before beginning the assigned route and report any issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Immediately notify the supervisor of any variance in route time exceeding 15 minutes.
- Maintain all required certifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must be 20.5 years of age or older, with at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Must have a valid MA driver's license and a good driving record history with no more than 2 moving violations in the last three years.
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Ability to interact with patience and sensitivity in all contact with individuals, residential staff, parents, and facility staff.
- Requires acceptable annual CORI according to Bridgewell policy and a fingerprint‑based national criminal background check per DDS regulations and policies.
- A Drug Screen and physical must be conducted as soon as possible after a successful interview; regular employment is contingent upon acceptable results according to Bridgewell policy.
- An annual driving record history will be verified and results are subject to MART approval based on regulations and annual MART audits.
- Frequently required to climb stairs.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to drive a 12‑passenger van and/or a handicap‑accessible van.
- Must have a normal range of eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
- Must have a normal range of hearing with or without corrective equipment.
- Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles.
